Improve your riding skills in a private or group lesson setting focusing on advancing technique and horsemanship to the next level. Lessons are available at the beginner to advanced level in western and English disciplines.
Ground Training Instruction Options
To build confidence and a personal relationship with your horse we offer ground lessons and training. These are activities we can do with a horse while unmounted, with the rider on the ground, working with the horse in hand. Here are the types of horse groundwork we can do:
- Leading
- Lungeing
- Long Lining
- Liberty
Riding Lessons
Instruction Options
This involves lessons where you are riding the horse as opposed to being on the ground with them like ground lessons. These would be typical horseback riding lessons that help you learn in the following areas:
- Trail riding etiquette
- Equitation
- Western riding
- Dressage
- Jumping
- Cross country schooling
- Flatwork
What to Expect at your First Lesson
The first lesson is a great chance for us to get to know each other, to connect with your horse for the first time, and an opportunity for us to figure out how to best serve you in your riding journey.
It’s VERY important that we all start out on the same page with the same goals in mind for the rider, instructor, and horse. Be ready to dive in with your instructor and also to have an awesome time!
A typical first lesson will look a bit like this:
- Meet your instructor and get a quick tour of the barn, then meet your horse of the day.
- Learn how to properly groom and tack your horse with confidence.
- Then head out to the arena, mount up, and ride.
- After the lesson, riders will untack and safely turn out their horse.
FAQs
What type of clothing should be worn?
- No loose-fitting clothes like scarves or baggy clothing.
- Closed-toed shoes. Preferably with a smooth sole and a heel (boots if you’ve got them).
What ages do you teach?
We’ll typically work with people from the age of 5-100. Really, any age, if they can walk, we’ll see what we can do
What happens if there is bad weather?
- Sometimes we ride anyway. If we’re going to cancel we’ll let you know as soon as possible depending on the season.
- If paid in full – we will reschedule your lesson.
When should I arrive?
15 minutes before your ride time is perfect. Once you’re in the program we’ll coordinate based on the type of lessons that the student is participating in.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you cancel 24 hours prior to your lesson we can either refund you or reschedule. If you cancel the day if you will be required to pay for your lesson whether you attend or not.
