Horse Training
Horse Training
There are a few options that we offer when it comes to training a horse for you. We will allow options for both “haul-in” as well as “on-site” horse training. We can work with your horse in the following areas to meet specific goals for you and your horse.
Ground Work
Basics of Lungeing and Double Lungeing
We’re working on helping the horse to listen better to vocal commands as well as body language. The horse will improve balance, rhythm, transitions, endurance, muscle strength, and collection.
Long Lining
This helps strengthen their back muscle from working on the ground. It will also help with voice commands, learning straightness (not gayness) of gait, the beginning stages of carriage training, and more.
Liberty Training
This is a deeper more intimate connection with the horse where they learn to move with (or without) you based on body language and voice
Under Saddle Training
Flatwork and Over Fences
- Our instructors will work with your horse to gain balance, suppleness, and to improve each gate. We also work on transitions between the gaits, and it helps build the confidence of the horse.
- We typically start working with ground poles and all the way to over-fences both in the arena and out in the open over cross-country fences. It’s just helping the horses gain confidence and improve their ability to jump in any circumstances.
- Flatwork can also include basic dressage training as well.
Behavioral Training
If your horse has a specific problem like it won’t trailer, won’t lead well, is afraid of going through water, spooks frequently, will not stand at the mounting block, and any other number of behavioral issues, we can help them overcome these problems.
Trail Riding Experience
We help horses with confidence on the trail. We will work on leading or being at the back of the pack. We also help them with crossing different types of water like ponds or deep creeks. They learn to stand still when needed, as well as pick up different gaits out in the open space. Basically, we get them used to being on the trail and everything that comes with that.
Western Horsemanship
This is teaching structured riding for the purposes of roping, western riding, and more. The horses will learn how to properly neck-rein, and balance, as well as learning specific pattern work. This will prepare them for a future in a multitude of western disciplines.
Training + Board
The best of both worlds! Your horse will have access to miles of trail experience, a large arena with lights, and the highest quality of care. Horses can stay in a stall and private paddock during their training stay on our farm.
